Hand disinfection from the point of view of nurses
VRZÁKOVÁ, Karolína
Hygienic hand disinfection is one of the basic measures to prevent healthcare associated infections. The principles of hygienic hand disinfection are laid down by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. By following the procedures of hygienic hand disinfection, the health of not only the patients but also the healthcare personnel is protected. The issue of hygienic hand disinfection is often mentioned, but compliance can be a problematic aspect. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the issue of hygienic hand disinfection and related areas. This is the area of indications for hygienic hand disinfection and the procedure, which in practice may hide deficiencies. The thesis also mentions disinfectants and the topic of jewellery and nail treatment, which is also crucial in terms of the quality of the hygienic hand disinfection performed. The use of alcoholic disinfectants can cause skin manifestations and it is necessary to take care of the skin of the hands. Hygienic hand disinfection is a global topic and has been the subject of many studies. This thesis is enriched by a number of them. Health care-associated infections are closely related to hygienic hand disinfection. The theoretical part of the thesis also focuses on this. In the research part of the thesis, the data obtained by observation and subsequent interview technique are processed. The objectives of the thesis are to find out the problem areas of implementation of hygienic hand disinfection among general nurses, to find out the reasons for non-adherence to hygienic hand disinfection among general nurses and to find out the recommendations of general nurses for adherence to hygienic hand disinfection. The study population consisted of general nurses of a standard ward of a selected regional hospital.

Nursing procedures as the essentials of respiratory tract in clinical praxis.
SVÁROVSKÁ, Tereza
The main goal of this bachelor thesis was a comprehensive mapping of airway care in clinical practice. Before entering practice, we must become nursing students and gain the appropriate knowledge and skills in care, so this research is focused not only on the hospital environment, but also on campus in teaching nursing procedures to teachers and students. The goals of the thesis were to map the Standards in nursing care of the respiratory tract, which can serve as a theoretical and practical basis for students and nursing staff. Another goal was to examine the theoretical teaching of students and, if necessary, to discover gaps in the teaching of respiratory care and to suggest improvements in teaching. The last stated goal of the research was to search for innovations that are used in respiratory care. The methods of semi-structured interview and non-participant observation were used in the quvalitative survey. The first research method involved a semi-structured interview has been addressing 3 groups of participants and adding subcategories to them. The first group of participants was consisted of nursing staff and the subcategory was focused on the characteristics of the research group of participants, who were selected from the internal medicine, infectious and surgical departments. The condition was to work with the AIRVO 2 device and the tracheostomy cannula. The research questions focused on the specifics of respiratory care. The introductory research question was set in such a way as to map the specific care of the nasal cavity in modern high-flow oxygen therapy using the AIRVO 2 device. This is confirmed by the results of nurses who do not know these specifics and are therefore not sufficiently trained about possible complications and their solutions. Another issue examined was the study of the Standards in the care of the oral cavity with an established tracheostomy cannula. The research has shown that most nurses motivate the self-sufficient patient to take care of themselves and contribute to the aids that the patient uses. This research with students showed that oral care in a patient with an established tracheostomy cannula is not taught at all. Means that reduce bacterial colonization in the oral cavity are little used. The third question focused on the time allocation for teaching nursing procedures focused on respiratory care. The research has shown that most participants perceive the time allowance as sufficient. Teaching is realized in 4-hour blocks. My research also included mapping the tools that students have available to teach this issue. Students and teachers presented selected aids, all aids were sufficient, except for the model of the Trachcare system at tracheostomy cannula, which lacks an outlet for airway lavage and flushing of the Trachcare system. According to research, It is perceive the AIRVO 2 medical device as an innovation, which reduces care costs, time and, most importantly, is easy to handle. The last question which was mapped the students' knowledge. All the research could serve not only as a support for students, but also for nurses in practice.
Issues of care for a morbidly obese patient in standard beds and intensive care units.
KRÁL, Dominik
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of care for a morbidly obese patient in standard units and intensive care units. The work is focused on how nurses in standard units and intensive care units care for a morbidly obese patient. The theoretical part consists of the characteristics of obesity, examination methods, treatment, the possibilities of prevention of obesity and selected aspects in the care for a morbidly obese patient in standard units and in the intensive care unit. The research part focuses on the obstacles which nurses perceive in providing care for a morbidly obese patient and on how nurses care for the hygiene, skin, nutrition, excretion and mental needs of a morbidly obese patient. The aim of the thesis is to map the issue of nursing care for a morbidly obese patient. This part was processed in the form of qualitative research survey using semi-structured interviews. Five nurses from the standard ward and four nurses from the intensive care units took part in the interviews. After obtaining the necessary information, it was processed in the form of open coding and the creation of six categories. The results show that the complexity of care is determined by patient's mobility, state of health and his cooperation. Other obstacles are his proportions, lack of staff and the need for more time for overall care. For healthcare professionals, care is more physically demanding when handling the patient during hygiene, after excretion and during positioning. The nurses regularly monitor the skin. They consult patient's nutrition with a dietitian. They use interview with the patient to identify his mental needs. Based on the findings, a brochure for nurses was created, which focuses on the most common problems in the care for obese patients, which nurses may encounter in their practice.

The aim of the research was to assess the level of knowledge of mothers in a newborn care safety in home environment. Methodology: The study used quantitative method of research, using the technique of non-standardized survey. The selection of the respondents was intentional. The focus group were mothers of physiological newborns (N=300), that gave birth in Hospital in Jablonec nad Nisou between 15.11. 2020 and 30.1.2021. Results: Approximately half of the respondents (52 %) claimed that the benefit of postpartum bonding between a mother and her newborn is promotion of creation of breast milk. Only 45 % of respondents claimed that they wash their hands longer than 30 seconds and less than 1/5 of all respondents follow all six steps of proper hand washing. Less than half of the respondents (45 %) consider sleeping position on stomach or side of a newborn as a risk factor of SIDS. More than half of the respondents (60 %) knew how to resuscitate a newborn. The share of mothers in age category between 18-25 who answered wrong questions asking about CPR of a newborn was statistically significantly greater (p = 0,035) than share of mothers in higher age category. Respondents whose postpartum hospitalization lasted more than 72 hours claimed greater satisfaction with education in breast care statistically significantly more often (p = 0,029) than mothers hospitalized for shorter time. Respondents with primary level of education answered wrong questions asking about manipulation with a baby on a changing table statistically significantly more often (p = 0,046) than mothers with higher levels of education. Mothers having a fourth baby answered correctly question if blisters are a symptom of omphalitis, statistically significantly more often than mothers with less children (p = 0,014). Conclusion and Utilisation in Practice: Based on results of the research was created educational material "At Home with a Newborn Baby. A Few Handy Tips".
